I had the opportunity to read Judith Levine’s book “Not Buying It. My Year Without Shopping” while on our camping trip.
I was excited to read about the experiences of someone who decided to say no to shopping… or so I thought.
Judith’s book should have been titled, ‘Stories about my strong political beliefs sold to you under the guise of reducing consumerism.’ I tried to glean as much as possible about living life frugally but finally became so annoyed with the author, I didn’t read the last 30 or so pages. She droned on and on about how Bush was to blame for just about everything, insisted that frequent political contributions and political activism trips didn’t count as spending, whined for a chapter or two about a cell phone tower she didn’t like, and then explained how purchases didn’t count if one of her friends paid for it. When she wrote about

I budget $25 – $50 each month for dental care. Despite perfect hygiene, including twice brushings and daily flossing, I seem to have especially bad luck in the dental chair.
I have marshmallow teeth. White, straight, and soft to the core.
As my dentist finished the cleaning and moved the chair up, the creepy plastic squeaked in protest. I waited for the bad news and flinched when she pulled out my chart to make notes.
“OK Rebekah. Looks great. See you in six months.”
“What?!? You must have it wrong. I’m Rebekah. THE Rebekah. The Rebekah with her own personal parking spot earned from gratuitous dental work. I haven’t been for a cleaning in two years and I’m good?!?”
She laughed, and walked out.
Before she could change her mind, I ran for the door. I exited and gasped my first breath of air that didn’t smell (and taste) like tooth dust.
No dental work required? This one goes in the record books.
I would r

Forced bankruptcy is when the creditors are unable to receive payment from you to satisfy a substantial debt. In such a case, the creditors could file an involuntary or forced bankruptcy case against your business and you have some 20 days following this development, to file objections. If no objections are filed, the bankruptcy comes into force. If you do file objections, the case can go to trial.
Though most commercial bankruptcy are voluntary, creditors can unite to trigger forced bankruptcy provided there is a minimum number of creditors in this alliance, and the amount of debt is prescribed by the applicable law. These vary from case to case, and sometimes even from State to State.

There some advantages to being single – a whole bed to yourself, fewer arguments and the freedom to – on occasion – think purely selfishly.
However, research has revealed one area that singletons are not better off is in terms of finances.
The cost of single life
Findings from uSwitch.com found over the course of a lifetime a person on their own ends up paying over £250,000 more than someone living as part of a couple for essential living costs.
It suggested housing costs, essential bills and food add up to £11,904 a year on average for someone living alone, while for people living with a spouse or partner the total is £7,110.
This means unattached people spend £4,794 – equivalent to 67 per cent – more every year on necessary purchases.
According to the website the biggest outlay is the mortgage or rent, costing a single person £7,080 each year, in comparison with just £3,804 a year on average for those co-habiting with a partner or spouse.

I work out everyday and I have no desire to obsess about my hair anymore. I no longer spend hours and tons of $$ in the salon every week just to achieve a straight “professional” look. As a black woman in corporate america, this confession may cause a few clutched pearls. This

Who is the worst condo mangement company in Edmonton? Many of our readers live in condos that are professionally managed and for some management companies the term “professional” is a gross over statement. Many people do not realize that the condo management industry is unregulated, and that can leave Alberta condo owners in a lurch when they have a problem.
Last week I was working on a deal on where the buyer had numerous questions about the condo complex and documents. So they contacted the management company with their questions, as many prudent buyers do. After numerous unreturned calls (5 according to their agent) the buyers agent said if they didn’t hear from the condo manager they would not remove their condo condition because of his unanswered questions and his lack of confidence in the manager to perform their duties.
This prompted the seller to call to exert additional pressure. The receptionist was very snooty and said that the other agent had already left messages. A

A few months earlier, Resource Nation published a blog about Facebook’s Open Graph initiative on how it could possibly be intrusive to people’s privacy. Regardless of how you view the subject, the program has continued and has witnessed a great deal of success for those who employ the system to their sites.
When Facebook released the program, other websites were able to install “like” buttons on their own site, and when a Facebook user clicked that button, the action would appear in their newsfeed for their friends to see. A great marketing tactic that employs word-of-mouth strategies, the Open Graph initiative has added new features that include thumbnails, and the ability to add comments to the posts. Giving the Open Graph program even more appeal and versatility in the eyes of some.
If there has been any question as to whether or not Facebook’s initiative is working, this data should put down any doubts. According t
