Most people use sites such as Facebook and Twitter to share portions of their lives with friends, family and even complete strangers.
In many cases, the tweets or shares that go on each and every day in the social media world are relatively harmless and oftentimes go unnoticed.
Such was not the case; however, earlier this week when famed movie critic Roger Ebert took to his Facebook and Twitter pages to comment rather derisively on the death Monday morning of “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn.
Dunn and a male passenger were killed outside Philadelphia when Dunn’s Porsche went flying off of a road at a high speed and hit a tree, bursting into flames. According to reports, Dunn had been drinking just prior to the accident.
After tweeting, “Friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive,” Ebert shared this little jewel on Facebook: “Facebook has removed my page in response, apparently, to malicious complaints from one or two jerks,” Ebert tweeted on June 21. “Facebook! My p

If you are experiencing debt problems, you are not alone. CNN Money suggests that the average American household with one credit card has just over $10,500 in credit card debts.
You can become debt free by investing some time and energy into sorting out your finances. You won’t pay the debt off overnight, but you will start to feel better as you take control.
Firstly, schedule some uninterrupted time where you can sit down and work through your financial papers. Debt can be a serious matter, so you need to be able to concentrate.
Even sitting down with financial statements may feel overwhelming, but take a deep breath and go ahead. Remember that this is the start of the end of your debt problem.
Create separate piles for different lenders and accounts, remembering to include savings or international bank accounts if you have any. Then create a spreadsheet detailing how much you owe and to whom.
Include how much you are repaying currently, even if that is just the minimum amount. W

As a soon-to-be published author of a personal finance book, I never thought I would catch myself saying that I think that bargain shopping has become a borderline obsession for many people. I say this as the Swiffer Duster promotion on Facebook locks up within seconds of being announced and entire shelves of Nivea Body Wash are wiped out at every retailer in town. As much as I love saving money, I can’t help but be disgusted by people that empty hundreds of items into their shopping carts merely because they can save a little money.
This “Extreme Couponing” is reminiscent of the show “Hoarders”. Proud shoppers take camera crews into their garages and storage sheds to show off their bounty. One woman had enough toilet paper stocked up to last her several decades. Even with a large family to care for, I have yet to see how anyone can feel good about storing 400 tubes of deodorant in their home.

Yes folks, there is such a thing as too much. Before yo

The economic recession of 2008 has been followed by a slow recovery – this had cast a cloud over many people’s finances and forced many more into significant debts. If you are in this situation you are doubtlessly struggling under the burden of onerous repayments. There is a way out of this however, and you might want to consider refinancing to reduce the interest on your personal loans.
Refinancing entails replacing an existing debt with a new one under different terms – there are a few reasons to do this. For instance, if your monthly payments are too high you can cut them while lengthening the term of your loan, or you can do the opposite to get into positive territory sooner. You can also pay off multiple obligations and consolidate them into one loan, simplifying your payment plan. If any of these options appeal to you, it might be worth considering refinancing as it can really make a significant difference to your financial life.
Aside from these reasons there is one big incentive to refinance: interest rates. If yo

Part-time jobs dont always equate to no benefits. There are plenty of part-time jobs out there that offer surprisingly good health insurance and benefit plans. You just have to know where to look.
Why is it to your benefit to know which part-time jobs have benefits?
Shit happens. Jobs get downsized, you may choose to retire early but dont want to foot the bill for health care, or you may decide to go back to school.
Industries that Offer Good Part-Time Benefits
To make some broad generalizations, the following industries tend to offer pretty good part-time benefit programs:
- health care
- blue collar (usually unionized)
- army/military
- state/federal/municipal governments
- retail (non food-service)
Im going to highlight a few national employers to consider. Note that not all health insurance or retirement plans are created equal. Just because you may be eligible for medical insurance, does not mean you will have a free ride.

If you are thinking of buying an older property, now is one of the best possible times to look at them. Many a time I’ve been showing an older home with a freshly finished basement I’ve wondered: “what’s behind those walls?” After a straight week and a half of rain, if there is a problem with water you are likely to find it now.
This weekend I was showing homes in Aspen Gardens and wouldn’t you know it there was this strange sound in the basement like a toilet was running. We finally discovered the source of the noise was actually water pouring into the crawl space. Some pails and towels were already present suggesting someone knows about the deficiency, but there was no disclosure on the highlight sheet.
Even before we arrived at the home my clients were questioning looking at homes in this crappy weather, and I said as I always do that this is the perfect time to look.
Another property we looked at had only one window covering closed in a room full of windows. When we
